{Gentlemen's. Shindig Style}

Good Friday afternoon gentlemen. I know most men don't sit around wondering what they're going to wear week's in advance for an event...but if 'what you're wearing to The Shindig' has crossed your mind at all...I'm here to help! Erin Busbee and her team of expert stylist will be here at the club Thursday, March 24th, hosting a fashion show featuring 'Shindig Style' for both men and women. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance so you don't miss out!The 2011 Shindig is all about raising awareness and money for the Kendall County Women's Shelter, Roy Maas Youth Alternative's, and Young Life of Boerne. This year's event will be hosted at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch with a casino theme. 750 tickets are being sold for this years event so looking your best is obviously going to need to be a priority. Don't have time to sit through the fashion show...here are my not-as-expert styling tips for what to wear to The Shindig! Whether your channelling your inner Matthew Mcconaughey or Justin Timberlake...or if cowboy gear is more your style I've got the look for you!

COWBOYS...dust off your boots, starch those Cinch jeans, and iron your best pearl snap...It's Shindig time! Ok, maybe not so much on the pearl snaps, but if you're going to look cowboy-chic you'll want to pull out your nicer duds. Not just your work boots and shirts! The Ranch at the Rim has everything you need to pull off the cowboy look.If tight jeans huggin' your hiney isn't your style then dress it up a bit! Every man looks sexy in a suit! Calvin Klein has the hottest suits for summer. Since The Shindig is a laid-back event you don't want to show up in a full 3 piece suit. Instead try one of Calvin Klein's cotton-linen blend suits. And skip the black...a linen pant suit always looks great in khaki. Get hot easily and don't feel like rockin' the jacket? Don't! You can still look great in a pair of black suit pants, a white button down, and a skinny tie. Skinny ties are SUPER in right now. Yah yah, I know you don't care about 'what's in' but you want to look good don't you? All the celebrities, from Justin Beiber to George Clooney are sportin' a skinny tie!
Guys trust my advice and be sure to show up lookin' good! There will be a best dressed contest! ; )
That's all for now!

*I know this was a post for the guys, but honestly ladies...Chase Crawford, your welcome!!

{March. Madness}

No, not basketball! Everything about March is fun. March means mardi gras, St. Patty's Day, warmer weather, daylight savings time, my mom's birthday ; ) (Happy Birthday Moma), and so much more.

Everyone says April showers brings May flowers...but March is the month for fresh flowers! Brides start celebrating! Spring brides have the top picks for flowers! Ranunculus flower in March which is music to most bride's ears. Ranunculus are a beautiful wedding flower and very popular in bouquets. And as one of Carlos' favorite we are very excited!
March also welcomes outdoor weddings with beautiful weather and gorgeous sunsets! Last Sunday Pam & Trent Carbaugh welcomed 50 of their closest family and friends to join them in celebrating their nuptials here at Cordillera! Photography and floral by Goen South. Couple's feature coming soon! March is also the time to get your tan on and start showin' them legs ladies!!! Fringe is hot in fashion right now! Do yourself a favor...invest in a good fringe skirt and pair of sexy platform heels and rock your new look for the spring!

That's all for now! Happy almost St. Patty's Day and enjoy the rest of March!!!

{Cordillera.Spring Hoedown}

Grab your cowgirls and meet us on the dance floor!
Cordillera is hosting our ever popular
Spring Hoedown
tomorrow night, Thursday, March 10th.

This is one event you don't want to miss! The dining room is transformed into a western dance hall and the yummy bar-b-que will have you goin' back for seconds.
$3 Domestics -n- $4 Imports
DJ Dan will be playing everyones favorite country tunes while our members two step the night away! Chef Bryan will be serving up slabs of pork ribs, smoked chicken, and chopped beef sandwiches. And your favorite Cordillera Bartenders will be serving up ice cold long necks all night long!
Get yer boots and hat on, and get on up to the club! Party starts at 6pm. Don't be late!

Here are some fun ideas to consider when throwing your own hoedown:

•Dress the part...make sure all your guest know that a hoedown just isn't a hoedown if the men aren't in starched Wranglers and women in their best cowboy boots and matching dress!

•Texas Best BBQ! Hoedown's are famous for serving bbq meats and sides! Make sure you smoke some brisket, sausage chicken, & ribs served up along side some beans and potato salad! Some excellent BBQ caterers in our area that can be a big help on your event day are Don Strange Catering and FatJack's Custom "Q". Both caterers will add a hoedown ambiance unmatched to any other.

•Get yer Drink on! A fun way to personalize your hoedown is to come up with a signature drink for the evening and serve it in mason jars. Beer is a staple for hoedowns and can also be a big help when decorating! Throw some of your favorite beer bottles into a metal bucket with ice and you've got a drink station and good ol country decorating!

•Country Games! A fun way to get your guest interacting is to have some games at your hoedown. Horse shoes is always a hoedown favorite for all ages and for some of your older guest you can have a horse roping contest! You can rent metal horses or if that's not in your budget use a fince post...or your dance partner!

•Dancin' Music! Every hoedown needs to be sure it's playing good counrty western music for all your guest to dance to! Dance instructors can get your guest movin' and shakin' in no time while teaching them how to boot-scoot-n-boogy!
Hope to see ya'll tomorrow night! Yee-haw!

{Something Old. Something New. Something Borrowed...Something Blue}

As one of the oldest wedding traditions; something old, new, borrowed & blue; is by far my favorite. Every bride, even the most modern and non-traditional, participates in this tradition. It's a fun way to incorporate every aspect of your life at that special time. The tradition dates back to the fifteen hundreds and was originally a way of bringing luck to the bride.
'Something old' is what I most look forward to picking out when my wedding day rolls around. In my opinion it is the most special because it incorporates the brides family and the past.
Most brides use their dress as their as their 'something new' and lets face it, that's a cop-out...if you're given the opportunity to buy something new, BUY SOMETHING NEW! Whatever your 'something new' may be the item is meant to symbolize hope and optimism for the brides new life.
'Something borrowed' is, in my personal opinion, what makes this tradition, a tradition. Usually the bride borrows something from a happily married friend or family member, and the old saying is that the good fortune from the item will bring you luck in your marriage and also to serve as a reminder that the new couple can depend on their family and friends. It has been my experience with brides, that most tend to 'borrow' something from their parents wedding day. And that too, is my plan. Some brides use lace from their mothers wedding gown in their bouquet or even incorporate it somehow into their own dress. Some use the same cake cutting set that their parents used, some the champagne flutes, some a necklace, some their mothers veil.

Lastly, 'something blue' which now days can be anything from a pair of shoes to a Tiffany's box! Why blue? The color blue was used in weddings in ancient Rome to symbolize love, modesty, and fidelity.

So when your big day comes and it's time to put together your lucky charms, what will be your 'Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed...Something Blue?'

Til next time Ya'll!

Final Tidbit: If you haven't read Something Borrowed By Emily Giffin, do yourself a favor and read it! The book is brilliant, I laughed so hard I cried. You won't be disappointed AND it's being made into a movie, in theaters soon, staring Kate Hudson...now you know that'll be good.
